Chalet Hotel Aiguille Percée

The staff were fantastic, friendly, and accommodating. We had a cosy bar with a log fire, and the pool and sauna were lovely, though it was a shame the steam room was out of order. The room was probably the nicest we've had over many years of ski holidays, and the fourth floor view was stunning. It's a great hotel in a fantastic location. Evening meals kept it from being five stars. Some dishes were excellent, but others were less so, and several arrived cold on cold plates. Hot plates would help, though staff were happy to replace dishes when we raised it. A few hearty basic options and a children's menu would be welcome for hungry skiers and fussy kids. I'd give it four and a half stars if I could, so four is closest.

The staff were brilliant, so this isn't a reflection on them. Head office needs to improve the menu and stop skimping on the size and quality of the food. I was burning an extra 1500 calories a day skiing, but there wasn't enough to eat or much variety, just one pudding choice. The food was terrible, especially when I was expecting enough protein and carbs. Our room was lovely, but our daughter's room next door was completely different. The separate toilet was so tiny that you couldn't shut the door while sitting on the loo.

The staff were excellent and friendly, and dinner was delicious. The bedrooms were nice, tidy, and refreshed each day. Some corridor carpet is snagged and worn, and could do with being replaced.

The hotel is super convenient, less than a five minute walk from the runs and lifts. Our room had a small issue, but it was fixed quickly. The staff were fabulous throughout the hotel, and I'd recommend staying here.
