ibis Annemasse

The breakfast was the best part of our stay, with lots of choice and fresh, tasty hot food, especially the eggs and bacon. We slept well too, thanks to very comfortable beds. The room was clean, though dated and stark, and clearly needs refurbishment. Even a few pictures on the walls would help. The bathroom seemed to have been updated recently, and the shower was hot and powerful. We were in Annemasse for our daughter’s operation at the nearby hospital, so we booked one night at the Ibis Annemasse. The building feels old and tired and needs work, but check-in was quick and easy, everything was very clean, and reception staff were friendly and helpful. We paid an extra €10 for the gated underground car park, although there was plenty of free parking in front of and behind the hotel. The surrounding area is fairly run-down, but we felt safe walking out in the early evening. A pharmacy, Carrefour supermarket, and several fast-food places are a short walk away. There’s also a tram stop right outside, with regular trams going into Geneva. There was one strange moment just after we checked in. We were resting before dinner when someone knocked, then a young staff member let herself in before we could answer. She seemed surprised to see my husband and asked if we needed extra towels or cushions. Maybe we were being too cautious, but we’d only just arrived and already had enough towels and pillows for one night, so it felt odd.
