The property is huge, around 90 hectares, and magnificent in a natural way. On a clear day you can see the Pyrenees. It was built in the late 1700s and is being renovated gradually. There are future plans for 90 houses on the property. The golf course is enormous and is rated as one of the best 18-hole courses in the world.

The course has some lovely views, including the Pyrenees, and a few properly challenging holes. Some are quite hilly, so you may want a buggy. For Southwest France it’s a good course, though the bar and shop have very limited offerings. Green fees average €40 over the year, ranging from €35 off peak to €45 at peak times. The greenkeepers could take more care mowing around the greens, since the turf gets cut up. Little details like the holes and cups could be better too.

Quiet and full of interesting holes, this is a really nice golf course. It’s beautiful in summer.

Treat yourself to one of the superior rooms at this lovely Château and you might feel a bit like royalty. The golf course is both challenging and interesting, and the staff are very friendly.

The course itself was challenging and enjoyable when I played the 18 holes at Pallanne for the first time on the 26th May with a friend. I’d won a voucher in a competition, and my friend paid the senior green fee of 40 euros. But the day was spoilt by the closed clubhouse and the lack of toilets or drinking water. We’d driven for one and a half hours to get there, and on a boiling hot day the lack of these basics made the visit extremely uncomfortable. I understand the restaurant or café had to close because of the cuurent Covid19 crisis, but I find it extraordinary that nothing was provided for players. We weren’t warned when booking or when we arrived, and the receptionist was unhelpful and unfriendly. I don’t understand how a golf course can be open to the public like this, and I wonder whether it’s even legal. Under normal circumstances I’d return to the Golf du Château de Pallanne, but until management provides these essential facilities, I’d advise players to stay away unless they arrive in a camper car!
