The food was the strongest part of my meal at Le P’tit Gourmand. I spotted the €24 set menu on a chalkboard while walking around Tonerre and decided to stop. My quiche de jambon et fromage was delicious, with wonderfully crisp, buttery pastry and a great balance of tangy goat's cheese and salty ham. The filet mignon with potatoes and carrot purée was even better, tender enough to melt in my mouth, with the earthy sides balancing its richness. Dessert, a tarte aux poires with vanilla ice cream, was also tasty and not too sweet. The service started quickly: I had my drink within five minutes and my starter within ten. But after the main course, the waiters seemed to lose interest in my table. We waited around 30 minutes before asking them to clear the table and bring the dessert menu, even though several had passed by and could see we were finished. The dessert wasn't enough to make up for the poor service. It's a pity, because with service to match the food, this could be a special and exciting restaurant. Instead, it felt like they were aiming for something but couldn't quite be bothered to get there. Three stars.

The waitress was in a sour mood, and the whole meal was a very bad experience. My Caesar salad had vegetables that didn't seem fresh, so I couldn't eat it. I wondered if they might have been left over from another guest. Before that, I had to ask for a clean set of cutlery, then a new wine glass because mine was dirty. The waitress wouldn't acknowledge the glass was dirty, even though it was obvious, and I had to insist on getting another. There was no hospitality or service-mindedness. I should have listened to the locals when I asked if this was a good restaurant. They made a face!

Lunch on a weekday was good value, with efficient service. The starters were very good, especially the cold meat, and my wife really enjoyed her main course.

After a lovely holiday with some amazing meals around Burgundy, eating here on the way home didn't feel like Burgundy at all. The food was average, the wait was long, and it was expensive, including €4 for a soft drink. Disappointing.

The set menu was very average and disappointing. The food seemed to have been sitting in the bain marie too long. The escargots were overcooked and underwhelming, the veal kidneys were bland, and the tete de veau was soggy and, frankly, merde. The cheese platter was poor, and dessert was only okay. 🙃
