We drove three hours from Paris for what we hoped would be a peaceful weekend, and ended up turning around at 11pm. We were a few hours late, but had told the host beforehand. Her reply to our message asking if that was okay was, “do I really have a choice”. Then, about 30 seconds after we arrived, she greeted us with a frown and scolded us at the door. We couldn't believe that was our welcome, and would rather drive home another three hours than stay another minute with the manager. Yes, we were late, but insulting and reprimanding an adult couple after a long drive felt unacceptable for someone running a bed and breakfast. If a later arrival wasn't okay, she could have told us not to come, and saved everyone time and energy. Instead, she had us drive all the way from Paris just to be insulted on arrival. We booked through Airbnb and regret not checking Google reviews first. Despite losing six hours of our lives, leaving felt like avoiding an even worse stay. Other reviewers have described being scrutinized by the manager too. I don't believe the positive reviews below reflect the reality, and suspect they came from her friends and family.

A gorgeous spot, with a lovely pool, a huge garden, and a really friendly welcome. My one small complaint is that dogs aren't allowed. Have a great holiday! :)

My little one is already keen to come back after our wonderful four-day weekend. The owner made us feel at home, and was so kind, helpful, and good with children. My son settled in quickly, both in the house and with her. She brought him toys and offered to let him feed the chickens, which he absolutely loved. We had a large, clean, well-kept room, with plenty of space and access for people with reduced mobility. The big pool had lots of floats, and there was a big peacock for the children, along with loungers and large parasols. The kitchenette had everything we needed for nice meals. There were also plenty of toys, a swing, playhouse, and slide. Breakfast was wonderful, with fresh bread and homemade jams. I highly recommend the place and will be back soon. Thanks again for everything.

The trees, quiet, pool, and all the games for children make this a really pleasant place to stay. Jeannine gave us a warm welcome and was always around with a smile, ready for a nice chat or useful advice. Her famous jams were a treat, too. We'd be very happy to return.

The garden has trees and play equipment for children, and there's a large pool with loungers where you can relax. Inside, the house is tastefully decorated, and both rooms we had were beautiful, spacious, and superb, with very large bathrooms. One had a whirlpool tub; the other had a huge walk-in shower accessible to people with disabilities. Breakfast was generous, and the homemade jams were delicious. We were two couples staying for a long weekend. Even though we arrived earlier than planned, we were welcomed with exceptional kindness. We'd gladly come back.
