The apartment itself is spacious, clean, functional, and has what you need, though there were a few insects on the wall. It’s on the first floor facing the railway tracks, and the crossing barrier beeps and closes several times during the day and night. Trains and road traffic make it very noisy, which was frustrating when trying to focus or sleep early. The tram stop is close, and Fontaine Lestang metro and Arène station are both about a ten-minute walk away. I arrived around 11:30 in the morning on a Sunday, when nobody was there to greet me. Check-in was supposed to be self-service with a key in a coded box, but I’d never received the code. I had to call the emergency number at the Paris headquarters to get it, and didn’t reach the apartment until about 1:30. The building interior is quite nice, but the elevator hardly works, so take the stairs. The coffee they provided was expired, fortunately that was the only issue with it. There’s no reception, or someone there only very rarely, so make sure you have the entry code. If this is your only option, it’ll do. Otherwise, stay somewhere else.

I strongly advise against staying here. The rooms were filthy: mold in the shower, damp-loving insects on the walls, stained walls, dirty cupboards, and dishes that needed washing. A bedroom cupboard door was broken and nearly fell on me, held up only by the other door. The kitchen supplies were inadequate too. There was one huge pot that didn’t fit the stovetop properly, but no saucepan, colander, paring knife, peeler, scissors, wrap, foil, storage containers, dish soap, or basic seasonings. Good luck trying to cook. It’s a student residence right beside the railway. Trains pass every fifteen minutes, including at night, and the crossing barriers beep. It was too loud to open the window. There was rubbish and bulky waste scattered outside. The Google Maps pin was wrong, and finding the building was a real headache. Customer service was unreachable by phone during its limited weekday hours, and nobody replied to email. There’s no emergency contact that could help. It’s shameful to provide service this bad. I’ll never come back and would strongly recommend avoiding it.

The location near the stadium is handy, the rooms are well soundproofed from each other, and private underground parking is a plus. But we found a wooden spoon in the bed, which made us wonder whether the sheets had been changed before we arrived. More seriously, the fire alarm went off during the night and there was a burning smell coming from a ground-floor room. Another resident had to call the fire department because we couldn’t reach anyone at the residence. The firefighters dealt with it, and then we were able to return to our rooms. There were only four of us outside, even though the residence was supposedly full that evening. Early the next morning, the receptionist gave a weak excuse. It didn’t make sense on cost grounds, since we were with the firefighters when they opened the apartment in question. Residents need a clear explanation, and, above all, an emergency number where someone can be reached by phone.

I rented the apartment for a week in February 2024. The location worked really well for getting around: two minutes from a tram stop, ten minutes on foot to the metro and TFC stadium, and about forty minutes’ walk to the city center. There’s a Vélib' station right outside, and riding the bikes is a cheap way to get around. Shops for everyday essentials are nearby too. The internet was excellent, so I worked remotely without trouble, and the apartment had nearly everything I needed. The main frustration was the noise. It’s a student residence with apartments, and the upstairs neighbor regularly played the djembe. Trains run right below, with a noisy level crossing, and there are lots of them. There’s no one on site to help; everything depends on remote codes and keypads. It was also hard to find by car because Google Maps points to the wrong place. There’s no free parking nearby, and students leave cars around that block the entrance. I’d pay the 10 euros a day for the garage under the residence, then use Vélib' and public transport. It isn’t perfect, but I’d stay there again if I returned.

The room was simple, clean, functional, and well soundproofed. Staff were friendly and attentive, and it’s good value for the money. You can get straight to Terminal 1, and the metro is an eight-minute walk away. Finding the place was a mess, though. Google Maps is wrong, and I spent 35 minutes wandering around in the middle of the night. Look for the "Soleil d'Istanbul" hotel directly opposite. I was in a hurry and couldn’t reach reception, which closes at 6 pm, so getting in was complicated. They should also make clear that this is a student residence.
