Canal du Midi

The room was beautiful and the location was good. I arrived in the middle of the night, but checking in at the kiosk was easy. The next day, they kindly stored my luggage while I visited the city. Highly recommended.

The room is tiny, and from 7am you can hear people talking and slamming doors. It's really noisy in the morning. I'd avoid this place, there are plenty of better hotels nearby.

The bed was comfortable and roomy, the shower was good, and I wasn't bothered by noise from inside or outside the hotel. The corridors have a somewhat youth-hostel look, and the place is pretty basic, as you'd expect. The reason it loses a star is the intermittent, very loud noise from the shower drain, apparently linked to other rooms using theirs. Maybe there's no trap or S-bend in it? I took off the drain cover and put a towel in, which brought the noise down to an acceptable level.

After seven hours on the road, waiting while the woman at reception talked on the phone to a colleague for ten minutes was a bit much. The room we were first given smelled awful, but they moved us when we asked. The stay was good otherwise.
