Hotel de Bordeaux

The soundproofing was excellent, with no street noise, and we had a great view. The location is great too, five minutes' walk to the center and right opposite the main train station. The staff were amazing. Just be aware that the rooms are tiny and tricky to move around in with large cases, almost like a single room. They do have everything you need, though, and it worked well for a quick couple of nights.

Great value, with really comfortable beds, air conditioning, and friendly staff. The hotel is right by the train station, so getting around is convenient.

The soundproof windows kept things nice and quiet, and the hotel was clean with friendly staff. It’s basic, but had everything we needed for our first night in Toulouse. We could walk to all the places we wanted to see, and the train station was very close. We’d stay here again next time.

I was robbed during my stay, and the hotel’s key arrangements made me uncomfortable. Guests have to leave the key at reception whenever they go out, and the staff were unpleasant enough that I would have preferred as little contact as possible. Instead, I felt locked into dealing with them. The old-fashioned keys also seemed unhygienic. A good hotel should be flexible, provide good service, and keep its rooms maintained with competent cleaners, not use this setup to draw in new guests while giving a false impression of the place. The room was in terrible condition, with a bathroom smell and blood on the sheets from previous guests. The cleaner was a nasty, out-of-control bully. Staff lied at times and were otherwise less than competent. My suitcases were stored only behind the reception desk, and I was robbed of belongings from my luggage. The public photos don’t give an accurate picture of the area. The hotel is yards from a seedy strip club, and at night you walk past sex workers when you go outside. There are other socioeconomic problems too, including alcohol, drugs, and the scars of poverty. It’s a long walk to the centre. The room was below even the poor standard I expect from a French hotel, and the cleaning was worse than in a halfway house. I’d give it less than one star if I could. Booking.com promotes it highly, which obscures the reality and gives a dubious business a misleading image.
