My girlfriend and I booked this hotel last summer because the location seemed ideal for the price, but the stay was alarming from the start. Before we even reached reception, a shirtless man with scabs and white paint came down in the lift carrying mops and cleaning products. We wondered if he cleaned the rooms. We also saw women who looked like prostitutes coming and going without checking in. Maybe that's what to expect at a cheap hotel in an expensive city, we thought. The room smelled strongly of damp and cigarettes. The bathroom seemed never to have been cleaned, with water apparently left to build up. We found a whole bed bug on the bed. When we complained, the owner came up and squashed it, saying it had never been there, though I had a bite. There were dead bugs smeared on the wall, as my photos show. We lifted the sheets to check before sleeping and found a huge dreadlock of someone's hair right in the middle of the bed. It made me think the cleaners were high on something and only doing the bare minimum. We went down to complain and ask for a refund because we didn't want to risk catching anything. The woman at reception was kind, spoke several languages, and gave good service, but she couldn't do anything. The owner then offered to move us to their “suite.” It smelled of wet paint, and the toilet bowl had actual poop marks. She arranged for us to meet her boss the next day, but nobody showed up.

I picked the hotel for its view of the modernist market building, and the view was great. The market itself was fantastic too, with amazing butchers, fishmongers, bakeries, and chocolatiers. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was extremely dirty. The lift and hallway carpets were a health hazard, and the bathroom hadn't been cleaned properly: there was hair in the sink and bath, and no shower curtain. There were old cobwebs in the ceiling corners. I usually don't mind the shabby feel of French one- and two-star hotels, but this place was far too dirty. The air conditioning and Wi-Fi were awful as well.

We had a great stay and can't wait to return. The room was the best one, with a suite area, a large private rooftop terrace for sunbathing, and a stylish built-in fridge with a minibar. The hotel has a lovely breakfast, a great location, and friendly, helpful staff. It also seems to have someone at reception around the clock. Thanks for a lovely visit.

We wouldn't stay here again, even though a friend recommended it. The location is good and the staff were friendly, but that's about it. Everything feels worn and smells musty, there's mold in the shower, and no shower curtain. Worst of all, the bathroom has no door, just a saloon-style shutter. City-centre hotels can be noisy, but here the noise came from the neighbors. We could hear everything, from them using the bathroom to snoring.

Renovations are needed and underway. The quality is in line with the price, though cleanliness needs to improve. It's very close to everything. The night receptionist during our stay on 12-13/10 was kind and professional. Merci beaucoup
