Hôtel SOCLO

The Place to Tea is a cosy, relaxing little tea room tucked away in the hotel's lounge, with homemade-style cake to enjoy alongside tea or another refreshment. There's a lovely shady garden with comfortable sofas and a pool, too. Afternoon tea only, and you don't have to be staying at the hotel.

We loved dining on the verandah on a warm spring evening. The dishes were fresh, lively, and varied, and the restaurant and garden had a beautiful atmosphere. Breakfast the next morning was a treat for both the eyes and appetite, with a huge buffet selection that felt far from ordinary. The room was beautiful, with gorgeous colors and fabrics, l’Occitane toiletries, and a minibar stocked with more interesting choices than usual. From our warm welcome through every request and interaction, the staff made us feel that nothing was too much trouble. Hotel Soclo will stay in our memory as one of the standout hotels we've ever stayed in.

The brunch was delicious, and we really love this place. I've stayed a couple of times, and the last time they even bought my brother's favorite Japanese whisky after I asked if they had it. They go way beyond the extra mile. This hotel is one of a kind.

There wasn't even an apology from the staff. We paid for two nights in their top-floor room, which was supposed to have a bathtub and a small balcony, but on arrival they put us in a cheaper room on a lower floor. When we questioned it, they claimed the rooms were the same and only the lower one had a bathtub. We checked our receipt and called reception to say we still wanted the room we had paid for. They said it had been booked that day and offered it for the next day instead. In fact, the room we paid for did have a bathtub. They never reimbursed the price difference for the cheaper room. The deluxe room also had obvious problems: a broken toilet brush and a broken USB port beside the bed that made a high-pitched noise. We reported them to the French authorities, but little came of it. We felt scammed.
