Les Rives du Loup

Our stay in the new apartment was a disaster. The beds were cheap and uncomfortable, with plastic-feeling mattresses, blankets, and pillows. After one night I had severe back pain that kept getting worse and eventually became a medical emergency. On our last night, the electricity went out, and the voltage had dropped to a dangerous 180V, which I believe was due to poor wiring and inadequate cabling. We had to leave early because of the back pain. Management showed no empathy and refused a refund. They also wouldn’t let anyone else take over our fully paid apartment, saying it was booked in our name. My cousin was registered at the same campsite in another mobile home, but his place was unbearably hot without air conditioning, so we let him use our apartment. They threw him out anyway. They then threatened us with extra charges for a new key and door lock because we’d given the key to our cousin, whom they called a “stranger,” even though he was staying at the campsite and they knew him. The campsite might look decent at first, but this was a greedy, heartless way to treat guests. It felt like they cared more about renting the apartment twice than providing decent service. The terrible reviews are deserved. Avoid this place, especially if you don’t want the pain, literally.

The facilities were nowhere near what was described, and the hosts were deeply dishonest and unfriendly. Customer service was terrible. It was a thoroughly disappointing stay, and I’d avoid this place.

The staff were so friendly and helpful. I’d forgotten to pack my face cream, and they sent it to me in the UK free of charge. I was there recently for a 40th birthday party and had a wonderful time. The site sits in a valley with a beautiful stream and breathtaking mountain views, and picturesque Gourdon village is just a short drive away. The chalets are brand new, with large showers and wooden decked porches. The food was great, and the bar was well stocked. The barmen even gave us free shots.

It’s a pretty little site, and you can join in as much or as little as you like. There’s no pressure to take part in activities. The bar and restaurant are great, the food is good, and all the staff we’ve met have been wonderful. It’s centrally placed for exploring, though having a car made a big difference since there isn’t much nearby. Only downside was the mosquitoes, but that’s the whole region for you. Bring repellent!
