The rooms are old-fashioned, but they were spotless and comfortable while the renovations are still pending. The restaurant also offers very good value, with lots to choose from, and both the menu and bar are excellent. Maybe the furniture could use an update. There’s plenty to do, with an interesting entertainment program, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The setting is idyllic, close to beaches, bars, and restaurants. The place has been largely unchanged after 50 years under EDF, which invested little or nothing. Now that VVF, or La Belle Vie more precisely, is here, there are major renovations planned for the coming years. Looking forward to seeing the finished work next year.

The food was the biggest letdown. There was no table service, so you had to manage on your own or ask kitchen and dishwashing staff for help, including with technical problems. That raises questions about hygiene. The buffet starters and desserts need attention to the 72-hour replenishment rule, and the toilets by the restaurant were out of order, apparently. We stayed in early September, having picked this place mainly for its location in Brittany. It was listed as “new” in the catalog, despite the negative reviews. I’d avoid it until the renovations are finished. The receptionist was friendly and smiling, but was working alone and gave a scripted welcome. The exterior badly needs a facelift. Inside, the hallways were clean, bright, and spacious, but the 80s furniture from the EDF social services building made it feel like East Germany in '89. Only the bar TV felt like 2024. Our room was roomy, though its furniture and blackout curtains also need replacing. The recent acquisition seems to have left profitability ahead of customer care. Guests pay to stay, and they’re your best advertising, so a little consideration would help. This place no longer lives up to its old reputation. Properly staffed departments and suitable work clothes wouldn’t be too much to ask. Evian is the only place I think meets our expectations. We tried to contact VVF in Clermont-Ferrand through the customer relations form on its website, but the form wouldn’t work.

The meals are cafeteria-style, and the whole place feels more like a hospital or youth hostel than a holiday village. There’s nothing welcoming about it. The premises and furniture are dated, and it gets noisy at night. There’s no Wi-Fi or television, and I found it far too expensive for what’s offered. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The food was excellent, with fresh produce, and it was a great all-inclusive holiday. Even with the season winding down and fewer staff around, there were different activities on offer. The team was good, and the site is well located. After the lack of maintenance under CCAS EDF, Antoine has a challenge ahead in making the place attractive again, but I think he can take it on.
