After a walk around Troo, we came back for the menu midi. The village was really interesting, with a superb view from the top. We'd first stopped for coffee after plugging in our EV at the car park opposite. Lunch was relaxed and leisurely, with a demi carafe of rose, and the friendly staff gave good service. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

We had a reservation, but after waiting 20 minutes without even getting a glass of water, we decided to leave. The owner just said, “everyone must wait their turn” 😱. Sorry, what? If you’re going to take this many bookings, have enough staff, put some water pitchers on the tables, and treat people with basic kindness and respect. It was a horrible experience, especially since we came on a positive recommendation. If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen. Good luck.

The meals were beautifully presented and cooked, and we felt the hotel deserved a higher rating than its two stars. It’s in a lovely area, in a village with a lot of character.

The food was absolutely delicious, cooked perfectly, and full of great flavours. We even stayed for dessert, though it was already well past closing time. They wouldn’t let the late hour stop us, and I’m glad, because that chocolate was wonderful. The people made the place. They were kind, funny, dedicated, and worked hard to make us comfortable. As Dutch visitors, we needed help with the menu. Their English wasn’t the strongest, but they made sure we understood what we were ordering. From the outside and inside, I expected something old and dated, so the experience really surprised me. Our first evening in Troo ran much longer than planned because the trip took longer than expected, but this little restaurant in a beautiful small town felt like a piece of heaven. If you’re nearby and want a really good meal, don’t hesitate. Amazing, go here!

A lovely restaurant and hotel, with friendly service. The village is interesting too, and it’s worth stopping by.
