The room was cozy, and the staff were so welcoming and friendly. What really made the stay was their help getting me to the train. I’d booked a taxi for 7.50 to catch the 8.20 train, but the service was delayed and let me down. I told the staff, and they quickly called the manager, who wasn’t on shift. The manager agreed to come and pick me up, and got there quickly enough to drop me off on time. Without that help, I would’ve missed the train. The whole experience was wonderful.

On our way through France to Tuscany, we had a wonderful one-night stay. The hotel is beautiful, ancient and fascinating, with everything so well preserved and cared for. I couldn’t stop looking around at all the lovely details, including the stunning draping plants. Our room was spacious and sumptuous, and the bed was unbelievably comfortable. The staff were smiley and fun, and knew so much about the building and food. The meal was fabulous and clearly made with care, and the champagne was divine. Our border collie was warmly welcomed too. At breakfast, the chef even brought him snacks on a little plate at our table. Breakfast was another incredible meal, beautifully served. I’d go back in an instant.

We stayed here twice in one week. It’s a beautiful hotel in a historic town, with really comfortable beds and an easy stroll into the centre, where there are plenty of restaurants to try. We were fortunate to find parking just outside. A coffee machine in the rooms would be a nice addition.

We loved our stay in this beautiful hotel. The room was amazing, especially its distinctive character, and every staff member we met was friendly, welcoming and very helpful. If you’re visiting Troyes, I’d definitely stay here.

The building itself makes a stay worthwhile. It’s an old Commanderie of the Knights Malta, and the architecture is excellent. The chef serves the tables personally, and the food was excellent too. How he manages such good cooking in such a small kitchen is anyone’s guess. From the hotel, it’s a short walk across the canal to town and the main square.
