Maison Oyan

The Heckmann family made us feel very welcome during a wonderful summer holiday. Steffen and his family were warm hosts and happy to share useful ideas for things to do. Their apartment was spacious, quiet, and superbly equipped. There’s so much nearby for a varied, relaxing break, from beaches and nature to idyllic mountain villages and exciting cities. We loved our week at Oyan House again this June 2025, welcomed by Susana and Steffen, who are incredibly kind and hospitable. This was our fourth visit, after April 2018, May 2022, and March 2025, and it definitely won’t be our last. We’ve tried all four apartments over the years. Each is practical, has everything you need, and is always spotless. The views over La Rhune or the wooded garden are magnificent, and it’s such a peaceful place to relax. Thank you, Susana and Steffen, for sharing these four different little corners of paradise with us.

The hosts were friendly, and the ground-floor Etable apartment had comfortable beds, lots of storage, mosquito nets, and plenty of equipment. But it felt quite dated, and the photos online no longer match it. We were especially bothered by mold in the bathroom, stained and partly broken living room seating, and mildew marks on the lampshades and bedroom corners. The garden view is also blocked now by a carport with a boat parked in it. Four of us stayed for two weeks in August, so this is only about that apartment. For us, it wasn’t worth the price.

Bright and roomy, with a lovely view of La Rhune and the village. The apartment is fully furnished and quiet. The owners live on site and are available. There’s one outside staircase.
