B&B Annapurna

The hosts were lovely and had plenty of information about the city’s history and places to see. The B&B is in Vaison-la-Romaine, a really nice town with lots to do nearby.

Martine and Julian were lovely and attentive, and gave us excellent tips for exploring the region. Our room was clean and pleasant, with a superb bed. Breakfast was generous and varied, served by Julian in the beautiful garden after Martine prepared it. We highly recommend staying here.

We paid €230 for two rooms for one night, breakfast included, with peak-season rates at €300 per night for two rooms. For that price, I found the hotel and breakfast service very overpriced. You can find somewhere much better in Vaison-la-Romaine for the same money or less, and we won’t be going back to the Annapurna. The location is certainly ideal, and the beds were comfortable, though nothing special. But after an 8-hour drive, even a glass of water would have been welcome, and the owners apparently didn’t think to offer one. We rented both bedrooms in the gîte as lockdown ended. The bathroom toothbrush holders didn’t look clean, the half-used shower products seemed to be leftovers from previous guests, and one bedroom’s carpet was dirty, with what looked like a cigarette burn. The whole thing gave an amateur impression. Breakfast the next morning was only adequate: thawed bread and pastries, plus a “platter” with three slices of industrial chorizo, and that was it.
