La Bastide de Vaison

We only wished we’d planned a longer stay in the area. This hotel was a highlight of our vacation, with its rooms both inviting and comfortable. The building is steeped in history, and the staff made us feel very welcome. Having the option of breakfast was a bonus before setting out to explore nearby.

The room was on the small side, though well equipped, with comfortable bedding and a sunny window. Service was excellent, from helping with our luggage to arranging dinner reservations. Breakfast had a nice choice of delicious pastries and cheeses. Vaison La Romaine is just a short five-minute drive away, with plenty of restaurants. Highly recommended.

Cedric and Maxime made us feel right at home as soon as we arrived. They’re warm, naturally welcoming hosts, and very helpful too. They really bring all the good things about this hotel together. If we’re in Vaison again, this will be our first choice. It’s peaceful and quiet here, yet only a few minutes by car from Vaison. The airy rooms are very clean, the beds comfortable, and the modern bathrooms even have extra heating. There’s an outdoor pool and a terrace for breakfast or a sunny afternoon’s rest. The plentiful French-style breakfasts are tasty, the hotel takes a climate-friendly approach, and dogs are welcome.

The hosts were kind and helpful, and we had good AC and WiFi. The rooms are small with modern decor, and the bed was OK. The bathroom was a problem: the tub’s glass screen didn’t keep the shower water in, and the telephone shower head was awkward to adjust and kept slipping out of its holder. We’d have liked hand towels as well as bath towels. The hairdryer was ancient and difficult to use. I only later spotted a tiny notice on the back of the door saying one was available at reception. It wasn’t mentioned in the guest information. They should take out the wall-mounted one and put a proper hairdryer in the room.
