Hotel Ormelune

Getting to the lifts is a short walk, and there's a boot room with heated lockers. The hotel is also well placed for town, the bus, slopes, and bars. We had a really nice stay at the Ormelune. The staff were super helpful and friendly, and room 506 was clean and spacious, with great shower and bath facilities. We'll definitely bring the family back.

I've stayed here for three ski trips. It's a beautiful hotel with friendly, efficient staff, great food, and a superb location.

You can almost ski in, and the lifts are close enough that carrying skis takes less than five minutes. The ski lesson center is across the street, under a minute away, and the meeting area for lessons is less than a two-minute walk. There are good après-ski options nearby too, with Cocorico under ten minutes on foot or about two minutes on skis. The location is the main thing that stands out, and everything is convenient. Nice bars and restaurants are close, as is a great shop next door for techy things like cables and chargers, plus key making. Service is good, though English speakers are scarce, which is to be expected in France. The Spanish food and tapas were surprisingly good, also something I'd expect in France.

I mostly enjoyed the sauna, breakfast, and location, and found the hotel nice and well situated. The rooms are basic but comfortable, and the gym is very insufficient in my opinion. Sound insulation between rooms is poor as well, so I don't think it quite delivers a four-star experience. If you're looking for a fairly priced, nice place in Val d’Isere rather than a luxury hotel, it could suit you.
