The host made us feel at home even though my three friends and I arrived late. There was fresh banana bread waiting on the counter when we came in, a lovely welcome. The chateau is spotless and spacious, with beautiful décor that suits a French country escape. The host had thought of the little things too, from a well-prepared charcuterie board and cheese toothpicks to measuring cups in the kitchen. Breakfast on the stunning china was a nice touch. We loved staying here during our girls’ trip through Epernay and hope to come back again and again.

Catherine was a wonderful hostess and arranged a couple of personal visits to smaller, independent champagne producers for us. It made a great base for our first trip to the champagne region. We had a wonderful few days, enjoying the lovely room, house, and grounds, along with fantastic breakfasts. We hope to come back soon.

The gite was spotless and well kept, with every comfort and convenience we could think of. Catherine had taken care of so many details: coffee and two ways to make it, biscuits, candies, fresh strawberry jam, cold beers, and a welcome bottle of champagne. The bed was comfortable, and the spacious shower was a welcome change after Paris. We spent three wonderful days at Chateau de Courmelois, beside a little park and river. Catherine was warm and easy to communicate with before our arrival, and even arranged a splendid maison de Champagne tour in advance. From this convenient base, we visited Reims, Epernay, and several small villages with excellent Champagne producers. It was a perfect start to our gite stays across France, and we’ll stay at Catherine's property again on our next visit. Merci, Catherine!

The owners were gracious and friendly, offering dinner recommendations and even providing food for our early departure. The location was peaceful but still convenient for getting around the Champagne region. It was a warm, authentic experience in a beautifully restored property that brings together modern and historic elements.

After our car broke down, the host kindly let us leave it in the carpark and use the facilities until we were back up and running. The place is beautiful, the rooms were fantastic, and breakfast was great too, especially the homemade jam.
