The spot is handy for getting to La Colmiane, about a 10-minute drive away, and there’s a small supermarket just a few meters from the chalet. Private parking was available too. We had a pleasant winter break in the Buis Apartment, but there were a few things that could be better. It was clean when we arrived, and the owner had left a dish towel, sponge, dishwasher and toilet paper. We’d been told ahead of time to bring our own sheets. The kitchen had plenty of appliances, including a washing machine, microwave, small oven and raclette grill, though the fridge was small and there was no kettle. The apartment had two ground-floor bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with three singles, plus a large terrace. It was spacious enough for four. The pillows were very thin and uncomfortable. The radiators were set to 2 throughout, except the bathroom, which was at 3. The host said we could turn them up, but the controls seemed locked, presumably to save energy. We should have been told about that. The bathroom radiator was also very dusty and dirty. The Wi-Fi was slow, and notifications arrived two or three hours late, sometimes the next day, even after I’d already seen the messages. We stayed four days and three nights. The host was very friendly. I’d put it around 5.5-6/10, a nice little mountain escape with some fixable drawbacks.

The setting is a real plus: shops and hiking trails are just steps away, the view is lovely, and the winter terrace gets plenty of sun. It still feels a little tucked away, and the host was courteous and helpful. Being near the mountains and skiing made the stay acceptable, though the price felt high for what the apartment offered. The basics were lacking in several ways. Across four apartments there was only one iron and ironing board, no hairdryer, and no food storage space. There wasn’t even a match to light the gas stove, though the host quickly brought some. The kitchen had two huge frying pans and two huge saucepans, but no kettle. The dishwasher baskets were badly rusted. Cleanliness was okay at a glance, but the details needed attention: black mold on the shower grout, peeling paint on the tiles, hair and fur on the shower screen, greasy crumbs around the stovetop, and dust and crumbs on less visible surfaces. The bedroom floorboards creaked and squeaked all night. It would have been fine at a lower price, given the amenities.

Valdeblore is a great base for all kinds of activities, and hiking trails start right by this peaceful rental. The accommodation is practical and well furnished for four people.
