La Bordette

Great.

The pool was fantastic, and there was lots of room for the kids to play. We also loved the owner's cooking, especially the cozy dinners she often puts on for everyone. She’s such a sweet, friendly woman, and you can ask her absolutely anything. We had a lovely short stay. You can tell she’s managing the place entirely on her own. It’s a beautiful building, though it could use some work, which is understandable. Someone to help her out would be good.

The kids are still talking about La Bordette and already want to return, and we understand why. Staying there was enchanting, and it exceeded what we expected. We spent a week at Gite Bas as a family of four. The gite was spacious, with two separate bedrooms and all the things you’d expect. We didn’t have to pack sheets or bath towels because the beds were made and plenty of towels were provided, including beach towels. Meals made family life easy. Gîte guests can join dinner and have the varied daily breakfast buffet. As parents, we loved not having to plan a menu and could just relax over good food and company. The kids, aged 6 and 8, looked forward each morning to seeing what Annick had put out, with new local dishes each time. At dinner, the children ate separately at 7 p.m., then went off to explore the estate while we enjoyed our meal. On Tuesdays, guests who wanted to could go to the local market in Dausse and eat with the locals. The atmosphere was great. There’s loads for children to do on the estate. The pool was huge and child-friendly, with most parts shallow enough for them to stand, so it was their favorite. They also had playhouses, trampolines, swings, and plenty more. Older kids can use the games room, with a pool table, foosball, ping-pong, and a well-stocked honesty bar. We also explored the region, which has enough to keep you busy for another week. Annick & Maarten were always ready to share tips and experiences, and we picked up ideas from other guests too, including people who had been before. We saw Bonaguil Castle and Le Stelsia, visited Pujols and Penne d’Agenais and their markets, went to Cahors, rented a boat on the Lot River, and spent the hottest day under the trees at Happy Forrest – accrobracnhe. We didn’t want to review this gem at first because we wanted to keep it to ourselves, but everyone should get the chance to holiday here. Thanks, Annick & Maarten, for such a fantastic week!

What a beautiful place for a weekend! It was clean, lovely, and surrounded by trees, and the service was just right. Annick is adorable, and breakfast was generous with plenty of variety. We’d be very happy to come back for a longer stay so we can enjoy the grounds, games room, and heated pool.
