Had a great weekend.

The stairs are extremely steep, so this place really isn’t accessible for older or disabled people. The building door handle is broken too, and a neighbor had to help us get inside. The apartment feels very dated, like it hasn’t moved on from the 80s. It’s cheap, but once you arrive, you can see why.

Be careful before booking: after paying for the reservation, you’re asked for a €200 deposit. I paid for the booking but couldn’t pay the deposit, and I nearly ended up homeless in the middle of the night. My money was paid for nothing! They canceled the reservation, and I still haven’t been reimbursed. Disgusting 😡😡

The only good things I can say are that I didn’t get a fungal infection and nobody burgled me during my stay. The place itself felt like a rip-off. The photos and description give you one impression, then you arrive and see the reality. I don’t understand how it’s still open. The building was crumbling, dirty and run down from the moment we arrived. Its front door stayed open day and night because the handle was broken, with a piece of it left on the floor. The entrance floor was filthy, and the stairs were tiny, old and dirty. Carrying luggage up them felt risky, since the steps were so narrow that only a child’s feet would fit. You also had to watch your head. The door to the “studio” looked flimsy, and its handle seemed ready to unscrew and come off in my hand. It looked like a good kick could break the door. Inside, pretty much everything needed replacing. The ceiling was cracked all over, the walls had stains and holes, the linoleum was torn, and there was mold everywhere. Aluminum foil had been used to patch a broken windowpane. Bring slippers, then throw them away after walking on that filthy floor. I ruined two pairs of white socks. The bathroom had a wet, moldy bath mat. I rushed through showers because I was afraid of getting a fungal infection from the moldy shower tray. The faucet barely worked, giving either cold or scalding water. Dishes in the cupboards were dirty; there was dish soap, but the sponge was old and dirty too. The fridge worked, though the huge amount of ice inside made it look like it had never been defrosted. The bed was a small, worn-out mattress on a slatted base straight on the floor. It was very soft, and the faded sheets had holes. With the noise and streetlights all night, sleeping was hard. There were no shutters, and even the black curtains didn’t block out the light. The advertised “city view” was really a brick wall and apartment windows. I felt awkward walking around in my underwear when the little boy across the street waved at me from his window. The TV switched on but had no channels, just a black or distorted picture with no sound. Netflix was the only thing available. And the photographer did a brilliant job making the place look nice in the pictures, because it was actually a filthy old dump.

The idea sounded good, but the stay was a huge letdown and we slept terribly. There was no TV, a trash bag sat by the entrance, and the bathroom was much too small. A glass door let in the full outside light despite the curtains on the window. It cost more than a hotel, then there was a €150 deposit as well. We spent 10 minutes looking for a parking spot, and there wasn’t one available.
