The noise from the hallway was awful, and the beds weren’t very comfortable. This felt more like a hostel than a hotel.

We chose a hotel in Valenciennes yesterday because everything seemed close by. But the place turned out to be completely unhygienic: leaks everywhere, a dirty floor, stains all over, and no electrical outlets. We tried raising it with the person in charge, who didn’t seem to care. Since we couldn’t sleep in the room because of the hygiene, he charged us €50. Avoid this hotel!

We paid €50 for the night on November 8th, and regretted not spending €25 more at IN STU, where we often stay. I wouldn’t call this a hotel, more like a brothel. There was no cleanliness at all: cigarette burns, dirty walls, holes in the walls, and a cannabis smell in the hallways. The room was around 14-15 degrees Celsius, the heating was off, and the hot water was only lukewarm because everything was reciprocal. The bathroom sink leaked and flooded the floor. I went to reception for a towel to put down, as if that were an optional extra. They said they hadn’t received their towel delivery. This was a triple room, with a double bed and a single bed. We couldn’t stay the night. We went downstairs with our things, and the other guy, acting as night porter, was on his tubercular-looking phone and asked what was going on. I said we couldn’t stay because it was unsanitary and the bathroom had flooded. He just said “HA,” without any emotion, and let us leave with our things. He offered no solution. Result: €50 for a kiss. I don’t understand how this place can be rented out. I’ll report the hygiene as soon as possible. The hotel owner and the owner of the bar next door, the CITY BAR. Avoid this place at all costs. The bathroom drained badly, the walls and floor were stained, and there was a strong musty smell. I’ve never seen anything so disgusting. They’re taking advantage of other hotels being full. I reckon all the positive reviews must be from their friends.
