Skissim Select - Résidence Les Hauts de Valmeinier

The view from the balcony was lovely, but there wasn’t even a chair or table to sit out and enjoy the sunshine. The staff were friendly, and the location, about two minutes from the first piste, helped make up for the apartment. We knew to expect a small place in the French Alps, but there was barely room to move, and someone should take a look at the interior design. There was only one closet for our family of two adults and four kids, which wasn’t enough. Sheets were included and ready on arrival, but the blankets and pillows hadn’t been washed or changed, so you could potentially get sick. Repairs seem to happen only once something is completely broken. There’s a lot that needs improving.

We couldn’t check in late despite the website saying to call the listed number. We tried several times and nobody answered, which was extremely unprofessional. The internet in the apartment isn’t included; we paid €25 for it, and it didn’t work at all. TV also costs extra, and the remote is another €40. Towels are €10 extra, and basic amenities aren’t provided. The apartment for six people at Les Hauts De Valmeinier is extremely cramped, with too little space for a comfortable stay. For a property presented as four-star accommodation, charging extra for basics that even one-star places usually include is unacceptable. I don’t recommend it.

The location is great and the place is reasonably well equipped. It would feel very cramped at the maximum occupancy of six, though. I’d suggest no more than four people.

It’s a total joke that the TV is there but locked behind a keypad, apparently requiring an extra €40 just to get a remote. WiFi costs €25, and even towels cost another 7€. Basically, standard apartment basics all come at an extra charge. Look elsewhere in this resort.
