We ended up staying an extra night because we loved it there, and leaving after our time around Auvers sur Oise was hard. The church, cemetery and Vincent spots are all just five minutes away. After our long drive, Laurent welcomed us into his beautiful, history-filled family home. The rooms, gardens and breakfast were lovely, and he knows so much about the area and the arts, especially Vincent Van Gogh. He wondered if Van Gogh might have walked near the house, or even visited. We’ve told friends and family about the place and would happily return. It’s also easy to get into Paris by train. Thanks, Laurent, we really enjoyed your company.

Valmondois is a charming little town, full of stylish, charismatic people with kind hearts and bright eyes. For my first experience of France, I couldn't have asked for a better place. The hotel is wonderful, and Mister Degaulle made us feel welcome with his warmth and hospitality. He treats guests like close friends in his own home, and I haven't found another hotel that compares. Thanks so much. We hope to see you again soon!

We had a lovely stay, and the train made it easy to get into Paris. Laurent runs a great B&B, with a well-equipped room where everything worked as it should. Just keep in mind that the upstairs bedroom can get quite warm in hot weather. Valmondois is a pleasant place, and L'Isle Adam is only a 10-minute drive away. The village restaurant opens only on Friday and Saturday nights. Laurent can prepare meals too, though we didn't use that option.

We could barely tear ourselves away and nearly missed our crossing, though staying longer would have been worth it. We only spent one night here while travelling back to London, but we're already thinking about coming again. Laurent is a real gentleman and couldn't have been more accommodating. The family home has been restored beautifully. What a great find.

France has always meant a lot to me. I had the great joy of living there for three years as a child, and during my 2018 trip with France with Friends, Chez Jules and Leonie became my French “Home” for good. I love this special place on earth!
