ibis Metz Centre Cathédrale

The staff were nice, but we won't be staying here again. In a wheelchair, I could barely turn around in the tiny room, and the poorly designed wet room flooded easily and smelled awful throughout our stay. The whole space was hard to get around in. The Wi-Fi didn't work at all, and our phone signal was so poor that we couldn't get online. It was also extremely hot, with the air conditioning barely seeming to help. By morning, the room was much hotter than outside, making for a very uncomfortable night. Staff couldn't tell us whether breakfast had vegan options or suggest vegan places locally, despite there being a lovely vegan restaurant in Metz, so we had to go elsewhere.

The staff were friendly and the location was good. Rooms were small but clean and decent, though not particularly comfortable. The polyester pillows and quite hard mattress didn't help. Breakfast was poor: the coffee was bad, and the machine ran out of milk and, I think, beans too, leaving only brown hot water. There weren't enough staff for the number of people eating, and plates and dishes kept running out.

I paid for a standard room but was given the disabled room, no. 305. The bed linen was dirty and there wasn't a toilet brush. Water from the shower ran past the drain into the bedroom and hallway. The bedside lights only worked when the main room lights were on. I couldn't cancel, but still left a day early. Housekeeping knocked, then entered without waiting for an answer.

We stayed just one night. The hotel was in a good location, the room was very clean and comfortable, and the staff were really friendly and helpful.
