We came to town for the bath and spa, but the crowds meant we didn’t end up going. Instead, we took a fantastic hike in the hills nearby, and the nature around the city is stunning, so perhaps that worked out better. The hotel is from an older generation, but it’s kept decently and has real charm. The staff were friendly, discreet and professional.

We were a group of 25 from Toulouse and stayed five nights on half board while exploring the area. The hotel is in an excellent central spot in Vals-les-Bains, close to the thermal baths and gardens. Dinner was varied and very good, with French meat clearly labeled, and we appreciated being seated at round tables for five. The service staff were attentive and efficient. Room size and comfort varied, which felt unfair since everyone paid the same trip price. Single rooms cost extra and were much less spacious for some of us. Our room had a kettle and a separate toilet. The TV with standard channels worked on and off, while Wi-Fi worked very well. There’s a large bus parking area, though the small elevator was slow with luggage. For safety, hallway nightlights are needed, but the bright light right outside the room door can bother anyone who prefers a dark room at night. Reception has been told and will address it.
