Escale Oceania Vannes

The room’s tea and coffee supplies were a bit sparse. I would’ve liked English breakfast tea as well as the herbal options, and there was no milk. I’m sure the concierge would have helped if we’d called, but it didn’t seem important enough to bother.

Breakfast was good, though I didn’t eat at the restaurant. I might have given it a try if there’d been a sample menu among the brochures in my room. The room itself was thoughtfully laid out, with the toilet separate from the bathroom, and the shower was better than any hotel one I’ve used, even better than the one at home. Everything stayed spotless through my four-day visit, the bed was comfortable, and I slept well. My trip to Vannes and southern Brittany went very well, and the hotel added to it. The receptionist gave me a warm welcome and suggested a taxi to the railway station, then arranged it for my departure. I’d happily recommend Escale Oceania in Vannes.

The old town is an easy five-minute walk away. Back at the hotel, the rooms are roomy and comfortable, and the bathrooms are large and well equipped. Breakfast had plenty of choice and tasted good, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. A fabulous hotel.

The room was quite small, though everything in it was well designed and useful. The bathroom was harder to understand: there were no towel hangers or shelves for personal items. During the COVID-19 crisis, the breakfast staff were very attentive.
