Hotel Première Classe Vannes

All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is a basic, good-value option, though a refurbished exterior would improve it a lot. We stayed here before and after a music festival in Brittany. It’s on the outskirts of Vannes, just off the motorway, in an industrial estate with other hotels and businesses nearby. The outside looks tired and needs renovation, but inside, including the breakfast area, is clean and modern. There are rooms on three floors and no lift. They’re compact and basic, but clean, with comfortable beds. You can have two singles, or a double with a single bunk above. Each room has a small but functional en-suite wet room, a good place to hang clothes, space for luggage, a small desk and chair, air conditioning, and a small TV with basic French channels. The continental breakfast costs an extra €6.20 per person and is good value for an all-you-can-eat basic buffet. There’s also a vending machine with simple snacks and hot and cold drinks. The hotel has no restaurant, but the Campanile hotel 50m away has a very pleasant restaurant offering a two-course set dinner for €17.95 per person. There’s also an on-site automated pizza machine, with freshly cooked pizzas of reasonable quality for €11-15. A taxi costs about €11 to the station and around €15 to the town centre. Bus route 8 runs hourly during the day, with fares of €1.50 to and from the station or city.

Handy for a one-night stop while travelling.

For a one-star hotel, it had everything we needed for one night: a comfortable bed, shower and toilet, air conditioning, and a restaurant nearby. What more could a traveller ask for?
