La Villa Garenne

We spent three nights here and loved the little private garden, a nice place to unwind after a day exploring. The host was attentive and always ready to help. Breakfast was made up of fresh local produce, homemade jams, and baked goods. The rooms are beautifully decorated, and the location is great. Definitely recommend!

Breakfast was superb, and the hosts were so friendly and helpful. La Villa Garenne is right across from the pedestrian entrance to Vannes' walled city and about 200 meters from the small port. I was surprised to find the bed made when I came back after a day out. This isn't a hotel, and my belongings were spread around the bedroom. When you rent a room like this, you expect some privacy. Why not ask guests whether they want someone to enter their room while they're out? That is a matter of privacy and law. If the owners can't trust the guests staying in their home, they shouldn't offer this kind of room service. At the very least, guests should be told there is a camera in the house. I've rented many private rooms over the years and have never encountered this before. The house is certainly clean and beautiful, but that doesn't make up for feeling watched and checked on. I hadn't been told that a camera was recording in the main room, and I didn't appreciate it. I also noticed the owners coming in through the back door just after each time I entered the main room, then spotted the camera up in the corner. I don't believe this is legal.

I stayed here for the second time during the Historic Festival and July 14th festivities. The hosts are gracious, and the place feels comfortable and welcoming. I highly recommend it.
