Dinner in the courtyard restaurant was excellent, and breakfast out in the courtyard was simple but just right, with fresh pastries and bread, fruit, and drinks. The castle itself is fascinating, and the rooms were beautifully furnished. We got such a warm welcome from the owners, and Homer the hound was a real character, very friendly too. It’s in a lovely little village, with a short walk down to the river. A truly special place for an overnight stay and a perfect end to our holiday.

We had a wonderful meal at the restaurant on site, with some excellent wines suggested by the restaurateur. It’s casual, and I’m fairly sure it’s a separate business. The host was very accommodating and spoke excellent English, which was a relief given my schoolboy French. Our room was lovely, with some nice touches, though using the shower without making a mess or having the curtain cling to you was tricky. Breakfast on the terrace was a nice touch. We stopped for one night on our way to Nice. It’s close to the Saone River and not far from the autoroute, but feels like rural France. I wish we’d arrived earlier to explore the area.

A really individual boutique hotel, and everything about it was excellent. The restaurant in the courtyard was amazing.

The food was excellent, cooked well and presented beautifully. The menu is simple, with fish, meat, and cheese, but it works really well. The setting is a charming, well-kept medieval castle, cared for by the owner.

The donkeys are so cute, and Homer the dog is really friendly. Such a magical place. Highly recommend.
