La Demeure d'Aglaë

My one-night stop at the end of a trip was ruined after my confirmed reservation was canceled at the last minute. I requested a room for two people, one bed, the day before arrival, and the manager accepted. She then canceled the same morning, saying Booking.com had already booked the rooms. No alternative accommodation or other solution was offered. I found the messages rude and unprofessional, and felt the confirmed booking was treated as less important than profit and convenience. The correspondence below shows what happened. On November 12 at 2:12 PM, I asked whether a room was available for two people for Thursday the 13th to Friday, without breakfast. At 2:24 PM, Louise COURTEIX said the Aglaé room was available and asked me to confirm. I confirmed at 4:13 PM, noting that we would have breakfast after all because the website said it was included. At 4:55 PM, Louise COURTEIX said breakfast would exceptionally be at 8:00 AM because she had a funeral at 9:00 AM, then at 4:56 PM asked if that was too early and whether I wanted to cancel. I said it was fine at 5:21 PM. At 8:43 PM, she asked for our contact details and address to prepare the invoice, said payment was due on arrival, and asked for our arrival time. I replied at 8:56 PM, gave 2 PM as our planned arrival, and asked whether credit cards were accepted and whether that time was too early. The next morning, November 13 at 7:26 AM, she canceled, saying Booking.com had already booked the rooms. When I replied, “Cancel Booking.com...” at 9:02 AM, her 9:57 AM response was in capitals: “IMPOSSIBLE, OTHERWISE I HAVE TO RELOCATE 4 ROOMS!!!!!” She apologized and signed Louise Courteix-Adanson.
