The pool was the main letdown. On a sunny summer day, I was told there were no towels available, even though some guests had pool towels. There weren’t enough to go around, and bringing your own to use a hotel pool seems an odd expectation. When I raised it politely the next morning with another receptionist, I got a shrug and no real apology. At checkout, nobody asked how the stay had been. For €200 a night, I expected more attention to the guest experience, and that overshadowed the good points. The location is fantastic, and the woman who welcomed us was warm and friendly. She was also the only staff member on duty, juggling reception, the front of house and the bar during one of August’s busiest weeks. Our room was clean and had air conditioning, though it was small and getting into the shower was a tight squeeze.

Breakfast was delicious, and the room was lovely and immaculately clean. We got a friendly welcome, too. The setting is very quiet, yet the beach is only a short walk away.

The staff couldn’t have been more helpful, and the pool and gardens were lovely. There’s a private path down to the beach, all set in beautiful grounds. Wow, what a place. Shame we booked just one night, but we’ll definitely come back.

The staff were the best, and the pool was great. Thanks to stephan from the evening staff for such good service. The hotel is only two minutes from the beach. The bathroom could use a showerhead hanger and an extractor fan. I opened the window once, but it looked onto someone’s sun terrace, so I left it shut.
