The room was cheap and felt low-end, with a creaky bed and a TV smaller than an iPad. The old shower stall had mold in the joints, and the paint was peeling. We stayed one night while visiting the region, but didn't want breakfast, just in case. There's a spy camera with a direct view of the owner, who watches and makes a point of pointing it out. Be careful not to touch it. What about children being filmed without their knowledge? You enter through a back room of some sort of bar.

The staff are friendly and easy-going, and you can arrange when to collect the keys or arrive during regular check-in. The rooms are small but lovely, modern and charming, and breakfast is included. It's a small B&B in a great central spot. On Fridays, you can also sit outside on the square by the church for a drink or snack without staying overnight. They have salads and cheese, plus beers, wine and cocktails for €7.50. The stairwell is a little narrow, and church bells might disturb you if you're a light sleeper.

For €87, there was no reception, just a text asking me to say when I arrived. Unbelievable. The toilet, shower and bed are all in one space with no separation. The place looks rundown inside and out and could use some renovation. With the heating on, it gets hot and you hear planes. Turn it off and you might sleep peacefully.

For €89, this was a huge disappointment. There was no welcome, just a stark room with poor bedding and an old, uncomfortable pillow I'd happily throw away 😏. The minimal decor felt depressing ☺️, with old iron window bars on the wall and a portrait of Bishop Godeau. I felt like I was sleeping in a fancy prison 😁.
