Mas de Vence Hotel & Restaurant

There are plenty of good restaurants in Vence, which was handy since we weren’t very impressed by the hotel restaurant at dinner. My companion liked it even less. The pool itself was lovely, and service was great. The location is fantastic, just a short walk into Vence. My only small gripe was the shortage of loungers, especially with people leaving towels on the few that were available.

I was only meant to stay one night in July 2024, since I had an Airbnb booked for more than six weeks. I let the hotel know by email that I’d arrive at midnight, and they replied quickly to say they’d be there for me. The Airbnb turned into a complete nightmare, and I had to move somewhere else. While I was traveling and working across time zones, I kept coming to Mas de Vence to work. The family and staff were wonderful. They expected me each day, let me use the Wi-Fi without charging me even though I wasn’t staying there anymore, brought me water while I was on meetings without me needing to ask, and said I could use the pool for free. The family and even the other guests were so kind and caring, it felt like a breath of fresh air. Thanks again for your hospitality. I’m the lady from California who also speaks Italian. We slept really well in the simple but comfortable rooms. The hotel is cozy and run by family members who clearly love what they do. Its restaurant was a real highlight: fresh, homemade regional specialties at reasonable prices. The menu was short and changed daily, and everything we tried was outstanding. It felt simple and homey, not too expensive, which is rare for a hotel.

The hotel is older, but has plenty of style, and the staff do too. Everyone served us with a smile, and reception was very friendly. Breakfast was good French fare, brought to the table instead of set out as a buffet, a nice old-fashioned touch. The pool was pleasant, though the loungers were a bit old. The hotel was very quiet, and indoor parking beneath it was included. The air conditioning wasn’t great, though it did help a little, and it was extremely hot outside. It’s a very short but steep walk to the old town and its many restaurants. We didn’t eat dinner at the hotel. I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys old-world charm and very friendly staff.
