Hôtel Normandy

The courtyard was pleasant, and the hotel was clean. Barbara gave us a wonderful welcome, and the location worked well for visiting Claude Monet's gardens. Our room had a nice view, though air conditioning would have helped. They also invited us to stay and hang out after we'd checked out.

We were there in 30°C heat and got an attic room with no air conditioning. The dusty old fan they pulled from a pillowcase barely helped, even on its highest setting. The parking seemed reasonably priced, and the bar may have its good points, though we didn't try it. Otherwise, it felt much like a typical chain hotel, but was missing a few important things.

The hotel is on a main road, yet it wasn't noisy. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and well appointed, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the food, and our dog was welcome at every meal. There was also an outdoor courtyard where we could relax.

My first stay here was a very poor experience, and I won't be coming back. I checked in on July 13th, and right away at the front desk, Mila didn't offer to help with my luggage or arrange for anyone to carry it up. The driver had brought my bags into the lobby, but I was still left to manage them myself while recovering from a previous shoulder injury that made carrying the heavy bags impossible. That lack of basic help was surprising and disappointing. I felt my needs as a guest were disregarded, and I wouldn't recommend the hotel. There are other places in the area that I'm sure would make for a much more pleasant stay.
