The room itself was clean and nice, but we weren’t happy with the service. My husband had asked when booking whether I could have easy access because I have reduced mobility. They said a ground-floor superior room would cost an extra €10, and it’s unusual to have to pay more for a disabled room. He also asked if his insulin could go in the fridge, but got no answer then. After we’d paid, he asked again and was told the restaurant was closed and nobody would be around in the morning to return the medication. The lady lent us a freezer block for the night, which meant we couldn’t refreeze our own block for the next day’s trip. Check-in was meant to be at 4, but reception didn’t open until 4:20, and the woman didn’t even turn on the lights, so we didn’t feel welcome. We were only there one night while travelling. If we’d known the medication couldn’t be stored in the fridge, we wouldn’t have booked.

After a very long journey, we arrived to find that food, drinks, and breakfast weren’t available because the staff were on holiday. We’d already paid for the room, and wouldn’t have booked if we’d known there were no facilities. I’d spoken to the owner by phone that same afternoon, and none of this was mentioned. Appalling service.

We had three pets with us and weren’t charged for them. The staff were lovely and our room was clean. Breakfast was nice, though there wasn’t much choice. The croissants were really good.

I’ve been here twice now, and the quiet setting and friendly welcome from the hotel staff are a big part of why I like it. The rooms are comfortable, and I enjoy the breakfasts. I haven’t tried dinner yet, but the menu looks tempting. I’d happily recommend it and hope to come back as soon as I can.
