The massage was wonderful, and the room was stocked with plenty of treats, drinks, snacks, and thoughtful take-home items. The history, decor, setting, and private Versailles tour were also amazing. But the service didn't match the experience. Our butler led us to the wrong room, and we had to point out that the suitcases weren't ours. No one apologized; it was treated as if nothing had happened. WhatsApp replies were slow, even though we were told to use it to reach our butler. At tea, the servers repeatedly got our drinks wrong. We tried to chalk it up to the French way, but we didn't have similar problems at the other Paris hotels we stayed in. The golf cart also broke down a couple of times, and once we had to leave it behind when it got stuck. The pool area looks beautiful, but it didn't feel well run. The sauna and steam rooms were lukewarm, and people who seemed to have checked out or not checked in yet were sleeping or changing there beside their suitcases. It felt more like an airport than a peaceful luxury hotel pool. With all the attention given to the treats and extras, staff training for smoother service should be a bigger priority.

Dear Dominique, As I fly back to America, I keep thinking about how much my wife and I will remember this stay at Airelles Le Grand Contrôle. It was moving, unforgettable, and far beyond what I expected. I'm especially grateful that my wife could share it with me. Together we stepped into the worlds of Louis XIV, Marie Antoinette, and Napoleon, and learned so much about French history and culture. It was immersive and genuinely moving, a wonderful day to feel a little French. What makes luxury meaningful is hospitality: noticing the details, anticipating what guests might need, and making them feel cared for. We felt that from your whole team, including Evan, Thomas, Charles, and Bérénice. We don't expect perfection, only to feel welcome and wanted. Somehow, that's exactly how the stay felt. The property itself was transformative, with every detail reflecting its period, history, and vision. The private Versailles tours were extraordinary, and our passionate, knowledgeable guides taught us so much. Evan brought such contagious joy and enthusiasm that he seemed to be performing in a musical the whole time. Charles helped us out of the car when we arrived and offered me his arm for support. It was a small gesture that showed just how thoughtful your team is. Dinner was a mind-blowing royal feast, with wonderful entertainment that made us feel as though we were inside a film. The Roman bath was just as memorable, so calming that my wife and I nearly fell asleep sitting there. Bravo to you all. I hope to return soon with my in-laws. Until then, my sincere thanks for such a spectacular, life-changing experience. Warm regards, Daniel Lee

I rarely leave reviews online, but this stay made me want to. It was the best travel experience of my life, and the hotel and everything around it went well beyond my already high expectations. The private Versailles tours made the visit even more special. Our guides were excellent, and with such a small group we could hear them easily and everyone had room to ask questions along the way. Manon, our butler, was incredible too. She helped with anything we wanted, even the little things, and told us about the hotel's history and the story of our particular room. If a six-star hotel experience exists, this was it. My wife and I will definitely come back next time we're in France.

Our after-hours tour was a highlight: we learned about life in the courtyard and even saw the King's private apartments. The hotel is right beside Versailles, just a five-minute walk to the courtyard. Back at Grand Contrôle, dinner was fabulous. We chose the Grand feast, and the servers' period outfits made it fun. Each dish was delicious, one better than the last. The hotel itself is gorgeous, with fabrics and wallpapers recreated from originals used in the 1700s. Our room was beautiful, and the bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in. Thomas, our butler, was especially kind and helpful. My husband and I had a magical, memorable stay and found it hard to leave. Thank you for such a lovely experience.

The room, tours, and dinner were outstanding, Grade A. Everything else felt overrated to me. We arrived at 10:45 in the morning and spent three hours waiting in one room before anything happened, then were charged for lunch. Staff made an effort to welcome us, but when I asked for a drink in our room, they said yes and it never arrived. I followed up on WhatsApp and got no accountability. They talk about abundance, yet I felt awkward carrying my bags down to the lobby after they had offered to take them. Dinner came with a €150 charge for non-alcoholic drinks, and breakfast was charged separately too. The one-night price was far beyond the value. It would have helped if the butler had explained which activities and meals were included, and especially which weren't. Communication: D. Price compared with value: D.
