Royal Hôtel

We planned to stay for two nights, but ended up making it three when Eurostar stopped running for 24 hours after a WW2 bomb was discovered. The hotel worked perfectly as a central base for exploring Versailles. Our rooms were all individual, the beds were comfortable, and the shower was excellent. The owners were friendly and easy to approach. They gave us tips for visiting Versailles and figuring out how to get back to Paris. The location couldn’t be better, just five minutes from the station and 10-15 minutes from the Palace of Versailles. Breakfast had lots to eat, with different homemade cakes and preserves each morning. The service was personal and attentive without being intrusive. We’d absolutely stay again if we’re in the area.

The Royal was a nice place for our two-night stay. We were welcomed warmly, and our room was very clean, looking out onto a side street. The Palace is about a 10-minute walk away, with food and drink options nearby. There doesn’t seem to be air conditioning. If it’s very hot, opening the big windows might help with a breeze, along with the fan they provide, but it could get noisy depending on the day.

The hotel’s location was hard to beat, and the owners were friendly and easy to talk to. They helped us work out how to get to Paris. Breakfast costs a lot, but I thought it was worth it: there was plenty of food, with a different homemade cake and marmalade each morning, and the personal service felt special. We’d absolutely stay again if we’re back in the area.

Parking took a little figuring out. We reserved a spot in the Cathedral parking garage, where the payment system didn’t work perfectly, though the service was good. Keep your reservation number handy. The hotel itself felt like home right away. The couple who run it were super friendly and helpful. Our basic room for four nights was spotless and complete, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast is optional, but it’s worth trying at least once. There’s fresh-baked bread, homemade marmalade with a different kind each day, and lots of other choices. You’re served with real care, and it’s a lovely way to start the day. Versailles is just 45 minutes by train from Paris and much quieter and friendlier. The station is a five-minute walk from the hotel, and so is the castle. We know where we’ll stay next time.
