I liked how easy it was to get to interesting places from here. The person at reception was friendly and kind, and spoke a little English, which helped since our French isn't very good yet. The price was extremely low, so I didn't expect much, but clean rooms should still be the minimum. Ours were dirty, with at least two or three spiders or other bugs in every room, plus some cobwebs.

I stayed in a cozy two-bedroom place with a huge patio or terrace, a big table and armchairs. It had green fencing around it, and wooden steps leading up to a gate secured with a cord. The kitchen was equipped, and there was a toilet, a shower room, a flat-screen TV with French channels, plus Amazon Prime and Netflix if you sign in. Wi-Fi, electric heating in each room, and a gas water heater that kept the hot water going were there too. Christian and Brigitte run Le Pontis, and they're a lovely, helpful couple. They'd come over to fix or replace anything that wasn't working. There's a small shop at reception for things like shower gel or a takeaway beer, though it's not a bar. In warmer weather, they have various extra activities for kids. The place is right beside Verteillac village, with all the amenities. I had a very pleasant stay.
