We’d just arrived in town for one night and were looking for somewhere to stay. I called the owner to ask if he had two beds, and he said no. When I asked if he was fully booked, he bluntly replied, "non, mais j'ai pas d'envie," meaning he didn’t feel like renting us a room, then hung up straight away. If I could, I’d give him zero out of five.
At Maison D'Albâtre, 1 Rue de l'Église, 76450 Veulettes-sur-Mer, the owner offered to show us the room before we carried our luggage upstairs. We crossed the house to a courtyard and found a steep, open-work staircase. He asked, "I hope you're not afraid of heights." He wasn’t, but his wife was, and she couldn’t climb it. He told us to find a hotel, then refused to return our €20 deposit. This was never mentioned in the listing. With 35 other photos, why leave out a picture of that charming staircase? Avoid this place.
The owners were kind, and we appreciated having a comfortable room. Breakfast was good too.
We were made to feel very welcome, and everything was very clean.
