Auberge Le Colombien - Hôtel Restaurant

The family atmosphere, kind staff, charming clean rooms, and good food are why I keep coming back. The rooms have thoughtful little touches like coffee, water, a TV, and soaps. My one tiny criticism is that I preferred the lovely authentic furniture in the main restaurant to the new furniture they have now. This was my third stay. I first found the hotel by chance with my family 13 years ago, and it was a relaxed stop after a long day of travel. I returned alone in 2021 for two nights, staying in the cutest room with a lovely view. I had a three-course restaurant meal one evening and a brasserie meal the other. This year I came with my partner; we visited the castle and walked along the river and through the village, and he enjoyed the warm family feel too.

I was surprised by some of the low ratings, then noticed they were all from more than four years ago. These days it's a lovely little hotel. We stayed in Coquelicot, a quirky but practical long, narrow bedroom with two rooms divided by a central bathroom. The bar food was lovely: the steak, omelette, and fish and chips were all excellent. The staff are really friendly and speak English pretty well.

The secure, roomy bike storage was a welcome bonus. We stayed two nights on demi-pension, and it was a treat. The hotel itself was beautiful, our room was very nice, and there were enough choices for my wife and me to each enjoy two great meals.

We paused on our bike route for a quick glass of wine. It was delicious, and the place was lovely.
