The pool was okay, though cold, and the fitness center had almost nothing in it. The sauna costs extra. The hot water heater was defective or not working, and the paid Wi-Fi didn’t work either. The resort also has no service for many providers. They charge extra for all sorts of things, from sheets and towels to garbage bags. Bring anything you might need, because the hotel won’t provide it. It’s very cheap, but I felt like I got even less than I paid for. If you’re going on vacation, spend a little more.

The rooms were dirty and smelled, and the toilet had no ventilation. We were eight adult men, booked for single beds, but got narrow double beds instead. Towels and bedding cost extra. The cabinets were old and didn’t work, the refrigerator in the room was broken, and the ski lockers felt like something from deep communism, even though this was in France. At check-in they kept the deposits for all three rooms, €750 altogether, even though we’d paid the cleaning fee. The reasons were that we left our towels in the bathroom instead of taking them to reception, and didn’t take the final bag of rubbish to the bin. During the week nobody cleaned, so we’d been taking the rubbish out ourselves.

The room was filthy when I arrived. The carpet had stains, the surfaces were dusty, and the musty smell made it hard to breathe. The bathroom was worse, with mold in the shower, grime on the tiles, and hair in the sink. It clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly before my stay. When I raised the hygiene problems, the staff were rude and unhelpful, brushing off my concerns. Their response made an already uncomfortable stay even more upsetting. My time at Goelia was thoroughly disappointing from the start. Cleanliness and customer service didn’t seem to matter here. I’d strongly advise against staying at this hotel. Save your money and find somewhere that keeps things clean and treats guests with respect.

The outdoor pool is warm enough for a swim even while snow is falling, and the apartments are well equipped. This is one of the few places in Le Corbier that has kept its charm, with very high quality accommodation. All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially the young receptionist Mr. Hugo.
