Hotel Campanile Beziers

The reception staff were absolutely great, and breakfast had more than just croissants and jam, with ham, cheese, porridge, and other things. The rooms are okay and clean, and the WiFi is fast and free. There’s no lift, so you have to carry your luggage up the stairs.

The food was very low quality, and the room was awful, with a low ceiling, doubts about the cleaning, and a strong cigarette smell. When I raised the smell, I was told, “Smoking is forbidden here, the hotel is full so I can do nothing.” The host was rude. They couldn’t find our reservation on arrival and told us to leave without trying to find a solution. We insisted three times before they finally found the booking made through Booking. We got the same treatment in the restaurant. I thought it was a joke.

I stayed here a few years ago, and I would have given it a higher rating then. Since that visit, I’ve found that the rooms aren’t all to the same standard. Some are more luxurious than others, though they’re offered for the same price. The service was faultless, and the food is reasonably priced. It was a good stay overall, but I wish the standard were consistent throughout.

The rooms are basic but a decent size. We stopped for one night on the way back to the UK, and the restaurant food was decent.
