Hôtel ibis Beziers Est Mediterranee

The location worked well for my trip from Italy to Spain, and I could charge my car while having dinner. Their six Kempower charging posts were easy to use, just tap with my phone, enter card details, and start charging. It took about two minutes to set up, the 70 kW speed was good, and my car was fully charged in under an hour. I later saw a security guard making rounds in the protected parking area at night. There was a booking mix-up: I had reserved the day before, but at check-in they said the reservation was for the end of November. That was my mistake on Booking, and the hotel was full. They found me a room at the Ibis budget 50 metres away, which I had to pay for. A few days and one phone call later, they reimbursed the original non-refundable booking. Good news. The Ibis budget room was better than I expected. It was very small, with the same linens as the ibis I had booked, two 80 cm beds and a third above them. The bathroom was good, and I couldn't hear the neighbors. All in all, a good experience.

The bus stop nearby was handy, with frequent rides into Beziers city for €1 each. We could also walk to Le Clerk supermarket in about 20 minutes, and we found a park close by. The Canal du Midi was a 30-40 minute walk, where we went for picnics. We came here after our motorhome broke down and stayed for nearly two weeks. The room was spotless, comfortable and air-conditioned, which mattered during the heatwave of 40©+. There was a good-sized choice of food in the restaurant, and the breakfast buffet was just as good. The pool and terrace were nice places to relax outside, and staff were always around if we needed anything. What began as being stranded without our motorhome turned into a hotel holiday that we really enjoyed. Thanks to the staff at the Ibis Hotel for their kindness and hospitality. We'd definitely recommend staying here.

€300 was blocked from my card, and a week later a large part of it still hadn't been returned. They took a €190 holding fee, then charged me again when I left. None of this was mentioned on the website. 😐 The bathroom had large holes, too. This was my first time at an Ibis, and after one of my worst hotel experiences, it'll be my last. We stay in hotels every week. If this is the standard at an Ibis, I dread to think what the Ibis budget is like.

Wood was being sawed right beside me during breakfast. It was incredibly loud, though interesting to watch. The new restaurant chairs are tiny, like school chairs. The refurbishment may have looked good on a computer, but in practice it doesn't seem very practical. The hotel renovation needs another look from someone with hospitality experience, rather than being run by an interior designer. This place could be great, but I'd wait until the work is finished before booking.
