Mercure Villeneuve-sur-Lot-Le Moulin de Madame

The room itself was a decent size, but the stay was poor enough that we would never book here again. We reserved two nights in a room with a bath, balcony, and river view. Instead, we got the last room on the block, where overgrown trees blocked the river view. The bath couldn't be used because there was no plug, and the shower curtain around it was covered in black mould. We reported both to reception, but neither issue was fixed during our stay. There were safety problems too. The balcony sliding door had a broken latch and couldn't be locked. The bedside drawer contained sharp pieces from a picture that had fallen off the wall. For a Mercure Hotel, providing just one teabag a day and little paper cups felt very cheap. Other mid-range hotels offer a selection of tea and proper cups. The gardens were clearly not being maintained, which looked bad. We came away with a very poor opinion of the hotel and wouldn't recommend it.

The staff were lovely and helpful the whole time, and our room overlooking the Lot river was very clean. The bath worked well, though the shower was a little broken. Breakfast wasn't really worth the price: the hot dishes weren't topped up often, and some tables were still dirty when we arrived, with nobody clearing them. I would still recommend staying here.

We were here for two nights in June 2024 during a cycling trip. The room was spacious, with a lovely terrace over the river, a great bathroom and shower, and a very comfortable bed. Temperature control worked really well, while the shutters kept the room dark and quiet at night, so we slept well. Breakfast had plenty of choices and good coffee. The downsides were truly awful internet and a dreadful dinner in the hotel restaurant, so I took a star off the service rating.

The restaurant staff made my mother's birthday dinner special, and I really appreciated that. The food was very good, and the staff were excellent. We stayed for a couple of nights and had a very good experience, with lovely rooms overlooking the river. Thank you.
