The tasting menu was the highlight, five courses with optional wine matching, and it felt like great value. We only stayed one night while heading south, but the welcome was warm and professional. The room was well equipped and looked after. A great find, highly recommended.

The countryside around the chateau is lovely, and the 15-minute drive from Roanne is worth it. Our room was spacious, with large windows and a perfect view, and the shower was good too. We came back for a short business trip almost a year after our first visit. This time we got to try breakfast, which was fresh and tasty. I think we'll return again.

The dinner at the restaurant was superb and well worth trying. Staff were good, though apart from the receptionist, not many spoke English. I was on the second floor and could easily hear noise from people downstairs in my room, so the hotel may suit spa guests better than business travellers.

Breakfast in the bedroom was amazing, and the staff were fantastic. I had a lovely stay. I only wish I could have had a drink by the pool, but apparently that wasn't possible.

Dinner was magnificent, with distinctive flavors and unusual service in a luxurious setting. It felt like a five-star experience, and during the week you can get it at a budget level, if you want.
