Le Verger Des Hautes-Cotes De Nuits

We only stayed one night near Dijon and didn't expect to get much of a taste of Burgandy/ Bourgogne cuisine, but Maman Nicolle's cooking and Joel's wine choices made it feel like we tried everything in one evening. We had homemade terrine with salad covered in Dijon mustard dressing, slow-cooked pork cheeks, an amazing local cheese platter unlike anything I'd seen before, and chocolate mousse. The wines were excellent too, grown and made by neighbours on their street. We even took home boxes of very affordable, excellent wine to the UK. The rooms were comfortable, parking was easy, and the location was beautiful, especially for walking through the vineyards. Mostly, though, we remember how welcoming the stay felt and how genuine the people were. We spoke very little French and they spoke very little English, but it turned into an unexpected highlight of our trip.
