It felt like staying in a real family home, and that gave the place a lot of character. There’s so much family history in the house, and Baptiste was very attentive to everything we needed to feel comfortable. We’d happily recommend it.

The resident cats were there to greet us when we arrived and say goodnight later. The whole place has a wonderfully immersive Victorian atmosphere, with lovely attention to detail. Sitting by the chimney in the living room made it easy to imagine being in a Charles Dickens novel. Batiste also made the experience feel complete with a traditional breakfast in the dining room, using fresh local produce. If you’re in the area for a day or two, staying here would make the visit memorable. Calling it recommendable hardly covers it.

The garden is lovely, and the house itself is gorgeous. Our room was very clean, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was delicious, with local products. I was especially impressed that they’d rescued so many animals and looked after them.
