The museum seems small at first, but it's packed with interesting information and has lots of different sections on space, dinosaurs, fossils and more. The setting is incredible, and I wish we'd had more time to explore the swamp and trails outside. It's nice that the outdoor area is part of the exhibit. There are many interactive things for children. Older kids can borrow tablets for educational activities. Our son is too little for those, but he loved touching the fossil and dinosaur models placed at a height the youngest visitors can reach. We really enjoyed it, and we'll come back when he's older so he can get even more out of the museum and natural park.
Paléospace in Villers-sur-Mer is worth a visit if you're nearby. It's attractive and well kept, with interesting exhibits and a clean, modern layout. It's quite small, though, so you can see it fairly quickly. For the limited size, the entrance fee feels a bit high for what you get. Just don't expect a large museum.
For an adult, it's a great value visit at under 10 Euros. The exhibition space is a real gem for fossil fans, with everything from large therapod dinosaurs to ichthyosaurs, ammonites and local marine invertebrates. There's also a fantastic Greenwich Meridian exhibit with an interactive analemma.
The layout can be confusing, since the entrance and shop are in the middle of the building, with exhibits on both the left and right. Still, it's a lovely little museum, informative and full of beautiful dinosaurs. I loved seeing how many specimens had been found by amateurs, the horseshoe crab and its journey, and the big stegosaurus outside. The shop has a wide range of things for all ages.
We found this little place and the kids liked it. They had an English audio guide on a tablet, along with lots of interactive activities. Some reviews say it's small, but there was plenty to see, and it was informative and educational, especially for my two dinosaur-mad kids. Outside, there's a well-kept marshland walk around the grounds with a playground along the way. Well worth a visit.
